This GoFundMe is for our beloved Junior Pounders. We all have countless memories of the living legend. Whether it be through family, ball players he coached, or just the thousands of his friends, we all have a story or 10 to tell about Junior! He has quite a road ahead of him. As you will see in update below, the battle has been going on for months already. Let's use this platform to make money one less thing for them to stress over while Junior pulls through this. All funds will go directly to Junior and Sue's account for immediate use. Please donate and let's hit this goal for the one and only Junior Pounders. ⚾️❤
*Update as of 1/19/20....*
In October, Junior started having severe and debilitating abdominal pain. He visited many local ERs in hopes of finding out what was going on only to receive medicine for pain and sent home without answers. The cycle of severe pain and ER visits continued for several more weeks. Finally, in November he endured a 10 hour wait in the UAB ER hoping to find answers and relief at a larger hospital. They noticed a lime sized mass located in the area where his gallbladder had been removed in Feb. Several biopsies and tests concluded that the mass wasn’t cancer. He had several stays at UAB during Nov and Dec due to excessive pain and testing. Finally on Dec. 19th, surgery was scheduled to remove the mass but was unsuccessful as the surgery would have possible life changing consequences. The surgery revealed that the mass was softball sized and inflammatory in nature. Doctors are baffled because they have never seen something like this before. He was diagnosed with an unexplained inflammatory process. He was sent home in a steroid regimen and has continued to have almost constant pain. He was admitted to a local hospital to help control his pain and was referred to Jackson in hopes of finding a solution. He is being transferred on Monday for an undetermined length of stay. Please continue to pray for him.
