I have started this fundraising page for my dad, Dave, in hopes to help fund his medical bills for cancer treatment.
Here is the story of Dave's fight with cancer. In 2010 he was first diagnosed with bladder cancer and underwent 6 months of full body chemotherapy. Once the chemo was complete all scans showed that the cancer was gone. However, nearly a year after his initial diagnosis the cancer had returned this time around his liver. The doctors again prescribed a 6 month cycle of chemotherapy. Once more a year later his cancer returned, and chemotherapy was again the prescribed treatment. As the medical anamoly my dad proves to be, his cancer is back for a fourth time setting up camp in his kidneys and near his groin. This time the cancer is being treated with mild radiation therapy because his doctors feel that the amount of chemotherapy he has undergone in only a few years has been detrimental to his body. But alas, radiation is not the save all end all, it is merely postponing his next round of chemotherapy. I wish I could say that doctors are optimistic but unfortunately due to my dads records, they have warned that the likely continutation of chemotherapy treatments and the drugs involved will lead to his ultimate demise and not the cancer that it is fighting.
So the reason I have started this page: Dave has sought the treatment of a naturopathic doctor specializing in cancer treatments. Through use of Loco-Regional Hyperthermia Treatment and Intravenous Treatments of Vitamin C, this doctor is very optimistic in his ability to kill the cancer cells, which is fantastic news!! The bad news? Naturopathic medicine is not covered by his health insurance and, like any sort of cancer treatment, is expsensive. So here I am asking for assistance in funding Dave's treatment. We are not asking for much, but anything you are willing to give will be a huge help! I know many people have varying opinions about holistic and naturopathic medicine but if it means my dad never has to suffer through cancer treatments again, we will go for it!!
