End of life expenses

I’m Theia Trusselle, and yesterday, my husband Gregg, who was an end stage dialysis patient had a rapid decline and a catastrophic bleeding event that ultimately took his life. For several years our health insurance was not affordable at all as a result of me having to retire early that the insurance cost more than my reduced pension. Thus, our savings was obliterated. I am posting this Go Fund Me to crowdfund money to cover his cremation and related expenses, some of this month’s bills and some of Gregg’s unpaid outstanding bills that were not covered by insurance.

For those who are unaware, my husband fell ill with end stage kidney disease in April 2018 and I went to Herndon High to work one day and never got to return. I never got to say goodbye to my beloved students and colleagues. Gregg my husband had a prolonged hospital and rehab stay as he recovered from Sepsis, the after affects of intubation, multi-organ failure and his body learning to cope with dialysis. He was on oxygen for much of his first year out of the hospital and for a smoker this was especially difficult and potentially dangerous. Leaving work to facilitate his care, made our household income less than 1/4 of what it had been. Financially we exhausted all of our savings to stay afloat during the next 4 years. Once I finally got a pension which was less than 1/4 my salary we had to pay out way more each month than was coming in. We had to adjust to a whole new lifestyle that was bare bones. Thus, leading to the present, where I set up this Gofundme to try to accomplish the necessary tasks highlighted in the GoFundMe. I thank everyone who has participated and helped because on top of losing my life partner, I am coping with trying to accomplish necessary tasks.
