Hi. My name is Natalie and I have the privilege of being a dog aunt to my best friends labradoodle, Astro. His mama Kiera is one of the best and loving dog parents I’ve met and she would go to the moon and back for him.
Recently, he’s been very lethargic, refusing food and vomiting. Kiera took him to see her vet to which they prescribed an anti-nausea injection, did a set of X-rays (to look for obstructions) and lab work to rule out any major conditions (pancreatitis) and sent him home saying the probable ‘bug’ would pass.
A few days after, with no relief, she brought him in again for further bloodwork. He was sent home again saying they couldn’t find anything and to follow up in a week.
The symptoms progressed that night and he wasn’t keeping anything down for a full 24 hours. Anxiously, Kiera brought him to an emergency vet the following day. They unfortunately had to repeat all tests and do another X-ray, to which they found the obstruction in his stomach.
Thousands of dollars later, they have brought him into surgery now and he will be transferred to another animal hospital for 2-4 day stay to recover.
With so much unknown of what could happen, Kiera being a university student with a part-time serving job, the unforeseen circumstances hit her pretty hard. The necessary but repeated lab work and X-rays created an abundance of costs. I wish they had found the problem the first time.
Any and all funds given to Astro will go directly to supporting his surgery costs and recovery.
Anything helps.
