Dear Facebook friends, friends of friends, and whoever this may reach,
For most of you reading this, you know our Dad, John. For those of you who don’t know him, we will give you a little glimpse of what our dad has been like and been to us our whole lives. He has worked hard his entire life, and at times, sacrificed everything - including his own personal happiness - to make sure others were happy and did not go without. He has always been a giver of himself for others.
Our father is passionate about God, participating in the church worship team over the years, playing sports with the grandchildren, and spending time with his family. Up until a year and a half ago, he worked full time and didn’t have much time to step back and smell the roses. In July of 2018, our Dad was diagnosed with brain cancer, a glioblastoma, that required emergency surgery. He has since been fighting for his life.
Due to his disability, he has had to make a lot of sacrifices, but has kept his optimism and his will to fight and live for his family. He has continued to trust God with his life and to meet all of his needs.
Two weeks ago, during his last week of chemo, he lost consciousness driving and rolled his car. An MRI was performed, and they found that his cancer was back. He has experienced some devastating consequences such as more significant loss of sight and his ability to drive, etc.
Our dad has been there for us our whole lives and given us all he could, even when he didn’t have it. Now he is struggling to keep up with financial obligations and get treatment that could make a tremendous difference in his recovery and quality of life. Previous obligations have reduced his disability income to a small fraction of what he would normally receive, creating a pretty devastating financial situation. We know that Dad believes wholeheartedly that God will provide for his needs and we would like to be part of that plan to help reduce the amount of stress that he and his wife are experiencing.
So, that is why we are establishing this fund for our dad, to give him an avenue to help reduce the stress of life to help him get better as fast as possible. All proceeds will go directly to him. They will be used towards treatment, medications, food, housing, etc. This fund will begin with us donating $100 of our own to help. We hope this will encourage others to help with what they can. Every little bit helps and will be greatly appreciated - and certainly will never be forgotten!
If anyone has any questions or concerns, or any words of encouragement, please feel free to contact us or leave a note here. Please pass the word and pray for our dad who is the greatest man/father anyone could ever ask for. Thank you for your time!
