The Benning Foundation is a non-profit organization with the intended purpose of funding The Benning Academies of Music in Mexico to bring the gift of music to thousands of under-privileged children and youth in marginalized communities throughout Mexico.
Unfortunately, the Benning Academy campus in Ensenada has recently lost its lease for the building they’ve been occupying for several years. The Academy must leave the property by August 1st.
A local pastor who owns a church around the corner has offered and agreed to share space with the Benning Academy. This is not a new relationship. The Academy has utilized the church previously as practice rooms, and for recitals.
The church is ideal. It is a 2-story building with a large open space on the roof.
To utilize this space, the Academy must build a total of 4 classrooms on the roof, which will accommodate the existing students of the Academy, as well as a possible need for 4 more classrooms to accommodate future students.
The Benning Academy is endeavoring to raise $25,000 that will cover the cost of labor and materials to build the classrooms on the roof of the church.
Time is of the essence as the Academy must vacate the property by August 1, 2022.
We hope you will assist us in our endeavor to build and occupy the new space so that we can continue to fulfill our mission to bring the gift of music to children in Ensenada.
Founded by Tito Quiroz, a violin student of Nancy Benning, The Benning Academy is supported by violinmakers Hans and Nancy Benning of Benning Violins, and receives funding through tuition, government grants, as well as public and private donations.
Here are the plans for the four rooftop classrooms.
