Please, help me study abroad!
Howdy, folks! As some of you may know, I’m currently a student at Portland Community College in the pre-nursing program with hopes to be accepted to OHSU’s nursing program in 2021.
While I am studying at PCC, I have an opportunity to take a public health class in Japan! This experience will be really awesome for me as a human and citizen of the world and I also believe it will help me become a more well-rounded healthcare professional in the United States.
During my visit to Japan, I will have an opportunity to observe urban and rural community health issues and programs while visiting health clinics and meeting with practitioners as well as attend an Acupuncture and Eastern therapy session to learn forms and techniques of Eastern therapy from a professional, licensed practitioner. Additionally, I will visit a nursing facility for the elderly to learn more about how Japanese care for their aging patients.
In addition to all of the relevant healthcare experience I will be observing and learning I will also have an opportunity to visit the Kyoto National Museum and the Kyoto City Sports Center for people with disabilities and attend excursions to Hiroshima and Osaka.
The money from this crowd sourcing will help with many costs including housing for the entirety of the program, cultural activities, meals, transportation, entry fees, orientation, international insurance, on-site support services, 24/7 emergency support through the program, round-trip airfare to Japan, and PCC tuition costs.
Any assistance is appreciated and I truly believe will aid in my future as a nurse practicing in the states. If there’s an opportunity for me to be a better healthcare professional I want to take it. Thank you so much!
