Hello, everyone. As some of you may know, my dear childhood best friend, Alexa Saeed, passed away on June 1, 2021 at the young age of 25 years old.
Alexa was a bright and unique light in an oftentimes dark world. We grew up in Ozone Park, Queens and went to St. Stan’s Catholic school from K-8 together with our best friends, siblings, and community.
Alexa was intelligent, wild, daring, goofy, compassionate, kind, helpful, loving, loyal, and deeply emotional and understanding.
She loved animals, people from all walks of life, nature, science and biology, math, history of the world, cultures, food, languages, love stories, Queens, her family and friends, video games, movies and music, Miley Cyrus, singing her heart out with her sister Shermeen, and relaxing, just kicking it, and enjoying life.
From a young age, she was exposed to the difficulties of life. As her mother struggled with substance abuse, Alexa fought hard to support her mom and often had to be the parent when she was still just a kid. This constant challenge, along with facing inner hardships and battles, Alexa also ending up falling to substance abuse, which inevitably took her life here on Earth away.
To memorialize her true being and beautiful heart, her story and her life, we are raising donations to have her name memorialized on a park bench in either Ozone Park or Forest Hills, two places she called home. The NYC park bench plaque costs $1500.
In addition, we are hoping to raise an extra $2100 in order to also plant and dedicate a NYC parks’ tree in Alexa’s name.
As she was buried in Florida to rest close to her father’s home, her friends and family in NY would greatly appreciate your support to allow us to have a place here in Queens where we can remember and visit our dear Alexa for years to come.
Thank you so much for your love and support.
