The World Percussion Group (directed by Maraca2) is currently on a two month US Tour. The group comprises of multiple nationalities from Taiwan, China, Estonia, United Kingdom, USA and Spain. You can see our website here: www.worldpercussiongroup.com
These young artists have been delivering clinics, concerts, lessons and masterclasses at over 16 Universities across the US. They have educated hundreds of high school and collegiate students, giving an opportunity for cultural sharing and exposing local US communities to International virtuosity.
Our last concert at UTSA (last night 23 March 2016) was met with another standing ovation and a successful residency. Afterwards, we loaded up the van and went to dinner in the La Cantera region of San Antonio. Meanwhile between 9.30pm and 11.40pm, our van was emptied and the entire contents of all 12 artists were stolen. Items such as backpacks, passports, social security details, laptops, cameras, recording equipment, tripods, chargers, ipads, sticks and mallets, bags and even personal clothing and shoes!
As director of the World Percussion Group, I feel deeply saddened and distressed of the loss of almost $25k of equipment. In accordance to many percussion friend requests, I hearby open a Gofundme account to try and compensate for our artists lost items and attempt to restore faith within our group and the percussion community.
Please do share this story to help us locate our equipment too! Various news crews have been to our house for interviews so please do check them out and share! Thanks to Sabian, Pearl, REMO, Marimba One, Tapspace, Innovative Percussion and the Percussive Arts Society for helping spread word!
Thank you also to the percussion community for your support!
