Donna's Final Expenses

My name is Samantha and I am setting up this fundraiser to help with expenses related to my Mother Donna's recovery from encephalitis and continued treatment for kidney cancer.

Donna was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2022 and began to receive immunotherapy treatment on a scheduled basis, and her oncologist was happy with her progress! Unfortunately in the beginning of August 2023, a complication rose from this treatment: encephalitis, a swelling of the brain, which caused an episode of confusion, irritation, personality change and more. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated for about 30 days.

Toward the end of her hospital stay, they were not able to find a rehabilitation facility to take her for inpatient physical and occupational therapies in a timely manner, and the doctor gave my Mother the option to go home and receive help there. After two weeks at home, we were unable to get any therapists, nurses or any type of home care to respond to us. Her oncologist recommended she return to the hospital to be reassessed for rehab once again.

She is in the hospital now waiting on a bed at a nearby rehabilitation center.

Our funds are currently being raised to help with bills and other expenses while she recovers.
