Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.
Jamaica has suffered heartbreaking destruction from Hurricane Melissa. Homes have been completely destroyed, flooding has washed away roads, water supplies are contaminated, and it is a crisis . It has been a week and most still have no electricity, water, or phone service. Much of the fruit trees and vegetables growing on the island have been destroyed. People are hungry, and many areas cannot be reached due to road damage.
I have many close friends in Jamaica; you may have met some of them. ALL of them are affected with damage to their homes, lack of food and water, lost trees and vegetables, loss of chickens, goats, etc. They had little to start with... But they all praise God to be alive with faith and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Theresa and I would love you to join us in helping our friends if you are able. We have been able to get some relief to them, as slowly MoneyGram is starting to be available in some areas, but not all.
Initially we are helping them with funds for food, water, and essentials. Also, with necessary "quick" repairs to their homes. Then we will be helping with rebuilding homes, buying chickens, solar chargers, etc.
If you cannot help financially, please pray for them. The list is long, but the names include Shelly and family, Paul and family, Nevlyn, Ikan, Roundy and Nika, Forrest, and others.
Love you all
Steve and Theresa
