Sophie DeJong was born on May 12,2025, to Chase and Jasmine DeJong of Clark, SD. The DeJong's have lived in Clark since 2018 and run Coteau Cattle south of Clark. Sophie is a miracle baby, born with multiple congenital differences, including several heart defects. After birth and several weeks in the NICU in Sioux Falls, Sophie was transferred to the University of Wisconsin Children's Hospital in Madison,WI, where she underwent two surgeries to temporarily repair her heart. Currently, Sophie is at the Sanford Children's Hospital working through feeding complications. Her goal is to come home to get bigger and stronger before returning to Madison for another open-heart surgery.
