BENEFIT FOR HEATHER

Donation protected
Before I get started I want to Bless you in advance for any donation you can make for my daughter Heather.

Her story is long and painful for anyone yet alone an attractive, young woman and a great human being. Losing her colon and having a near death experience is not something that is fair by any stretch of the imagination.

Her long and painful road begins on March of 2013. Having constant stomach issues, pain and difficulty going to the bathroom. Finally after weeks of this pain me and her mom(Michele, my girlfriend) took her to Brookhaven Hospital. We were thinking gallbladder, but after examination it turned out to be kidney stones. She was released with medication and said that the stones will pass. Which they did.

Her mother takes her to see a local gastroenterologist group that works with Brookhaven Hospital and they put her on anti-inflammatory medication for her inflamed bowels.

Pains began to re-surface, but worse this time so, back to Brookhaven hospital. This time the diagnosis of a light case of colitis was made. Meanwhile the pains continue and she is losing weight from not eating due to the pain. Well, it’s back to the emergency room at Brookhaven where she stays for hours upon hours.

She is finally taken in for a colonoscopy and now is diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. All this after only 2 months. She is kept there all night and day and sent home. Now the pains are getting ridiculous Heather is suffering badly. She is taken back to the hospital early the next morning. Michele takes yet another day off from work without pay. Then on top of the ulcerative colitis Heather is diagnosed with C-Diff, a highly contagious and infectious disease. By now they say her case is too far gone and she is transported to Mt Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. Once there she is treated based on the information received by Brookhaven. After a week her condition improves and they send her home. She has lost 40lbs in 3 months and had constant pain and suffering.

Four (4) weeks later I came home early from the gym and she starts calling me saying she is going to faint. I grab her boney body and she faints. I put her in bed and called her mom who calls an ambulance to her to South Side Hospital because Heather refuses to step foot into Brookhaven again. A call is put in to Mount Sinai Hospital. They send an ambulance immediately and she is taken to Mt. Sinai. Heather and Michele are told they will be operating ASAP to remove 85% of the colon which had now degenerated and become septic. As it turns out Heather was dying by being slowly poisoned. She could’ve died in my arms! How Brookhaven never picked this up is beyond my brain capacity. So anyway, they operate and put a temporary Colostomy bag on her.

Now back to 2015. After countless operations, much pain and suffering a proper diagnosis of Crohn’s Disease is made. She is scheduled for her “last” major surgery on June 29th of 2015. The surgery goes off well but not her recovery. Two weeks later she needs a second surgery. This time they take out 2 feet of her small intestine due to scar tissue strangling her small intestine. One week after her second surgery she is released and taken home on a Tuesday night only to be rushed back to Mount Sinai Wednesday morning. Everything shuts down again and she was vomiting feces. Really! The kid can’t catch a break! And as a side her heart has become very weak and she needs to be on heart medication for the rest of her life.
A few days later, after a month in the hospital, she is home again and has been since going through the painful healing process. But at least she’s home where she belongs.

If you are a parent imagine having to see your daughter suffering and screaming in pain and all you can do is sit there because you can’t do a damn thing to help her. That’s heart breaking.

We are asking for your participation in making a tax deductable cash donation or anything you can add to the making of baskets to be raffled off at the fundraising event on September the 23rd 2015. This will help offset money lost due to time off of work, travel expenses, medical bills that have built up over 2 years and any future incidence that may occur.

Please give what you can.
