A week before Christmas our beloved father was taken to the hospital, immobilized from severe back pain one day before his scheduled angioplasty.  Once admitted, it was evident that the routine angioplasty would not help his congestive heart failure as there were more blockages. Wayne was transferred to St. Francis Hospital, one of the best heart centers in the country where he underwent quadruple bypass open heart surgery. He spent 3 weeks in the hospital between the recovery for his heart and pain management for his 3 herniated discs (which occurred a few days before his scheduled angioplasty)..

Wayne is currently on the mend from open heart surgery and managing his back pain with medication until he can undergo a procedure for his herniated discs. He must wear a life vest, also known as a wearable defribillator to aide in regulating his abnormal heartbeat, if not fixed a pacemaker might be necessary down the road.. Until then, he is out of work forced to live on disability with medical expenses adding up. My siblings and I have been contributing as much as we possibly can in order to alleviate his financial burden but the medical expenses continue to build. Anyone who knows our father knows he would give the shirt off his back without a question. He is the most generous, caring, and hardworking man.. Typically, our family would not reach out for help however, our father does not need the extra stress with a recovering heart as it is only functioning at 20% at the moment.
