Wayne ALIVE!!

Wayne Miller has Leukemia. We are raising money to offset the prohibitive costs that are associated with being sick in this country.

Who is Wayne Miller?

He is a pillar in the small river community of Milford, NJ. He is the loving husband of Ellen Miller, the owner/operator of Muscle Therapy Therapeutic Massage. He is an amazingly encouraging and supportive father to AJ, Travis and Raime Miller. Ellie and Ryan Miller couldn't ask for a better Gampop!

Wayne is a talented artist who's classic pin up style art graces the walls of The Ship Inn. He is the bassist for The Brickhouse Ramblers; and if you haven't heard them jam, its a dang shame! He also plays bass in the lilting celtic band Na'Bodach; and yes, they wear kilts! If you know him, you know he lives for music.

He is a self educated entrepreneur and ideas man willing to put in the long hours to see a great thought through to a great reality.

He and Ellen, as a team, created some of the finest colonial era reproduction furniture and innovative homes on the East Coast and were featured in Country Living Magazine and Professional Builder in the 80's.

Wayne is the writer/director/producer of the historical dramatization "The Hello Girls" written to shed light on the hushed, uncelebrated and unrewarded role that women played in WWII. This short film won a gold at the Houston Film Festival. He is a champion for the under represented and wronged fringe demographics of our country, in his free time!

He is an aggressive and successful community activist committed to the rejuvenation of our awesome little town of Milford! Long live Milford ALIVE!!

He is a former EMS helicopter pilot, and before all that, when he was still just a young man, he became a Vietnam Vet. This list is by no means exhaustive.

He is a man with the vision, talent and motivation to better his world! He is very sick. He needs our help!! Our turn to champion the life of Wayne Miller!

What's going on?

Wayne was diagnosed with MDS in November. Myelodysplasia Syndromes. The appearance of these syndromes have been linked to over exposure to benzene... the base ingredient in Agent Orange, the primary chemical warfare of Vietnam. It is also in the jet fuel he pumped into his chopper for years as an EMS pilot. For more information about this disease:

His condition has gotten more serious as his bone marrow produces less and less healthy blood cells. Wayne's status has recently been upgraded to full blown Leukemia.

He is looking at a minimum hospital stay of 130 days, contingent upon everything going perfectly well. 30 days for the chemotherapy to kill all of his malfunctioning bone marrow. 100 days for his bone marrow transplant and the following 24/7 surveillance. His recovery time at home, with his family providing his care... well, who knows for sure... but it is going to be a while!

We are raising this money to cover that which will not be covered by traditional medical insurance, Medicare and VA benefits. We don't know the full extent of costs this treatment and recovery will incur. However, for starters, he will need complimentary and alternative medical therepies and treatments, not covered by insurance. He will need nutritional consult and assistance. Wayne and his family will be doing tons of travel to and from the hospital in Hackensack, NJ. Gas is expensive and time is money! There has already been a considersble loss of income for his family as they rally to support him. Things will get worse while they are caring for Wayne in and out of the hospital during and after his chemotherapy treatments and bone marrow transplant.

In order to keep connected to Milford and the Milford Improvement Crew, he is going to need a  laptop computer. Who doesn't have a laptop these days?! Wayne Miller, that's who. And it costs money to feed him the best foods to optimize his recovery and ensure his SURVIVAL!! He needs US! He needs YOU! He is committed to fighting this disease and living another 33 years! At least Ellen feels that 33 years is a good round number... It gets him to 100!

He is committed to his family, he wants to help raise Ellie and Ryan to be amazing humans! And he is committed to revitalizing this small town into a thriving bustling community with beauty and opportunity.

If you know and love Wayne Miller and/or his family, DONATE to support them in this overwhelming task. Anything you can give gets us closer to our goal. And just stop by the Millers, show some love and support! It will be greatly appreciated. PLEASE share this link on your Facebook timeline or tag people who you know care about Wayne! We can beat Leukemia as a community.
