Wayne Rice Fundraiser
Donation protected
Beloved father, husband and friend Wayne Rice had emergency surgery last week to remove brain cancer. Wayne is back at home and has a long road of Chemo and recovery with his wife, Lisel and son, Gunter.
These funds will support the medical costs and family while Wayne is away from work. These funds will also help build a ramp and do home improvements to keep him at home.
The Rice Family are incredibly grateful for any support provided during this challenging time for them.
4/24 Update
"Hey, folks.
Wayne's cancer is progressing, and symptoms are manifesting rather rapidly.
He is feeling confused often, he can't see well or focus, and he is experiencing weakness in his extremities.
He uses a walker when outside the home, but we talked about it and think the wheelchair might be a better option now because he's feeling the weakness more.
All of this is really hard for him to accept------he's always been so sharp mentally and so strong physically.
I mean, he carried me UP the hill at our wedding, for heaven's sake!
It depresses him.
And he worries about how much Gunter and I are going through and will go through.
The Seattle Cancer Center at the University of Washington is not an option (for trials) because with symptoms he no longer qualifies.
The Avastin treatment is on hold until we talk with the oncologist next Monday (he is on vacation until then).
This is all very overwhelming for all of us.
We're kind of in shock, at how fast the symptoms have developed, and every day it feels like there's something else.
Wayne can't work anymore, and I am on leave to be with him.
I feel God with us, even though the time with Wayne is so short.
God is carrying us, because I know I couldn't handle this without Him."
