I write this with a desperate heavy heart. In September of last year my families life changed forever when we found out my step-father had a huge brain tumor. The day before his surgery he suffered a stroke. After what was supposed to be a 4 hour surgery, 11 hours later we had a doctor tell us, he was not sure if Wayne would live or die. After 9 months in different rehab facilities, he was suddenly discharged based on insurance problems. In the beginning of this ordeal Wayne had lost all control of the left side of his body, including the ability to walk and do things that we all take for granted. There were days where my family was not sure if he would make it home. Now that he is home his rehab has slowed and he remains limited in his functions, confined to one small room. In February of this year we applied for Medicaid, currently his status is STILL pending. We now have a lawyer working on his case but it will most likely take months. My parents have gone through all of their savings and have no money left for Wayne's home care. They are currently behind in the payments and just cannot catch up. Normally I would not put my families business out for the public to read but we are desperate waiting for Medicaid to start sometime in early 2109, hopefully. In the meantime he needs a home health aide. Our family is small, resources are limited. My mom has her own health issues that prohibit her from being able to take care of him in the way he needs. Wayne has been a long time Beacon resident. Over the years Wayne has not only coached my baseball teams as a kid but he's volunteered countless hours of his time coaching teams that your kids may have played on with his grandsons baseball teams, our All-star team or his granddaughters softball teams and has loved every minute of it. If you have met Wayne you know he is a hard working, kind individual that would help anyone. I am asking for some help in return. I know its the holidays and times are tough for everyone but even $5 would go a long way. After working hard your whole life you should not have to choose between paying for your health care needs or paying for food and mortgage. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping or sharing this post to as many people as you can.
