Wayne Martinez Memorial
On or about Thursday, August 6th 2020 an icon of the Rawlins community was vandalized by an unknown individual or group of individuals. This memorial has been vandalized multiple times now. Below is a photo of the damage done. 
Wayne Martinez was a Corrections Officer for the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins, Wyoming. He served 7 years for the Department of Corrections, murdered in the line of duty at age 27. In June of 1997 a couple of inmates gained control to the shift commanders office in an escape attempt. They attacked Corporal Martinez, beating him and stabbing him three times. The suspects fled in a truck, but were stopped by other officers at the exterior fence when the officers opened fire on the escapees . Corporal Martinez is survived by his wife Jessica, four daughters, one son, and his parents.
This page was created to try to bring the person or people to justice. Corporal Wayne Martinez gave his life to keep our community safe from evil. If the reward goes unclaimed or there is any overage of funds, proceeds will go to the Martinez family to touch up the icon and/or for preservation of his memorial.
We have set the rewards goal at $500.00 to offer a reward to the person that speaks up and helps make the person who did this accountable for his/her actions.
