Wayne Lenard, a long-time employee of Besser Company (Alpena Shop Mold Maker), was recently diagnosed with cancer. The cancer is aggressive enough to necessitate intense treatment, which requires Wayne to be off for the foreseeable future. Our Employee Ownership Committee is hosting a company-match fundraiser to help defray medical costs and show our support to Wayne and his family during this difficult time. For every dollar donated by our employees, Besser Company commits to match that amount!

To ensure we can provide quick assistance to Wayne and his family, the fundraiser will end on Thursday, 22 September 2022, so please be sure to participate before that deadline.

A short narrative story by his daughter, Erin:

This is Wayne. Wayne is a funny guy. Wayne enjoys lending a helping hand. His best bud is his dog and for Wayne, fishing is life. In 2020 “Wayne’s World” was no longer funny because Wayne now has cancer. At age 57, Wayne is diagnosed with Metastatic Bladder Cancer. After two surgeries and the removal of the Cancer, life was looking up for Wayne. Back to fishing, back to work, and back to a normal programming of a funny, happy go lucky “Wayne’s World”.

Flash-forward to 2022, Wayne’s life had taken another turn. Wayne’s Cancer has made a return. Now metastasized to his lungs, Wayne has now endured Stage IV (4) Urothelial Carcinoma. Wayne’s prognosis is dependent on his willingness to fight and ability to push through day to day. Wayne has now replaced his days of fishing with Chemo treatments and the stress of the financial burden.

Cancer loves stress, but we love Wayne more. Now that you know Wayne, as a stranger, as a friend, as a family member, let’s support Wayne in his fight for longevity. Let's join this fight to keep his spirits high and his financial stresses low. Let's give Wayne the peace of mind he needs to live the longest life possible.
