Wayne Astrope Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Nathan Astrope. I am the youngest of Wayne Astrope's children. I am setting up this Gofundme page on behalf of my mother, Angie Astrope, with hopes she can have some assistance in paying for expenses that have incurred leading up to, during, and that will incur after my fathers death. Since the discovery of dads condition in March of this year, mom and dad have been operating on only 40% of their regular, modest income. With dad being unable to go to work and the bills still rolling in, coupled with the added expenses his illness has brought on, money is tighter then it has ever been. Nobody can prepare for something like this, the "rainy day fund" doesn't cover terminal illness.
Since March of this year my father has been battling cancer. While going in for what seemed like a minor procedure, the surgeons noticed something that caused them great concern. After a handful of tests and procedures the diagnosis came in; Cancer.
It is called Cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare form of cancer that is found in the tubes of the bile ducts. It is typically very aggressive in nature and rapidly spreads to other organs, lymph nodes and bones.
This was very difficult to process and was hard for everyone to come to terms with. It was made very clear to us all that this road he was to go down was going to be very hard, and possibly shorter then we would have hoped.
Since the end of August, dad has steadily declined with one medical issue after the other. On October 3rd he was admitted to the hospital due to his symptoms, and after standard tests it was revealed he had unfortunately contracted COVID-19 as well. During his time in hospital his condition has worsened and his body has begun to shut down. He is currently in palliative care where he is getting what he needs to stay as comfortable as possible through his remaining days.
Wayne, 62, will be leaving behind a large family with children and grandchildren, along with many wonderful friends made during his life and his involvement with his church. His loving wife of 41 years, Angie, and their son Jovaun will continue on in the family home, and will be the benefactors of any funds raised during this campaign. It is our intentions to use the funds to provide a funeral service, and to help our mother not have to worry about money during the hardest days ahead.
