Waylon was born 12 weeks premature on April 30th due to preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. He was diagnosed early on with chronic lung disease of prematurity due to his lungs being underdeveloped and he also has a mild case of a condition called retrognathia/micrognathia (small and recessed chin). As a result, he has not shown consistent improvements in his oxygen support needs. In order to go home Waylon has to be on low oxygen support (low flow), and as his due date approaches (July 6th) doctors have become more concerned with his inability to tolerate a lower oxygen support. In order to determine the best course of treatment for Waylon, he will need to be seen by a pediatric ENT and because Carle does not have one, he is being transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital to hopefully get a better understanding of what is holding him back and how they can best treat it. In order to be with Waylon, Macie and Casey will be staying in St. Louis and/or commuting as much as possible. Donations will allow them to take time off work, pay for gas, food, etc. during this stressful time. Thank you so much for helping them on their journey to get Waylon home!
