Waylon's Cancer Fight
Donation protected
My Name is Michelle, And Waylon is my grandson. I am seeking help for Waylon and his Family with financial needs as he fights his third fight with a rare recurring brain cancer. Anaplastic Ependymoma.
This is Waylon's story.
April 15th, 2019, A beautiful healthy baby boy was welcomed into this world by his parents Travis & Megan Brown. It was a normal delivery with no issues. he was perfect. They took him home. he had his normal baby life with hugs kisses and lots of love.
Then at around 17 months of age Waylon began having issues with keeping anything down and holding his head to one side as if his ear was bothering him. His pediatrician diagnosed him with having a simple virus, He was treated and sent home. After a few weeks of him not getting any better and a few more trips to his pediatrician, Waylon again began to throw up everything. On August 1st, 2020, Megan took him to the ER instead of his Ped. when the ER Dr seen Waylon, she Knew at first sight what it was. That day we found out it wasn't just a virus. after several tests and a CT scan the ER Dr transferred Waylon to the DeVos Children's hospital in Grand Rapids MI. Where at 18mo Waylon had his first diagnosis of Brain Cancer. What we didn't know was from that day forward he would have to fight a lifelong battle as the cancer was a rare recurring type known as Anaplastic Ependymoma. Waylon underwent his first brain surgery that year and had to endure hours and months of chemo, and Radiation therapy along with physical therapy to re learn everything. from eating to walking. Waylon overcame his obstacles and recovered very well. He hadn't had any issues for quite some time and oh I prayed that it was over that he could just move on and be a happy little boy. However just a couple years later February 2, 2023, after undergoing a routine MRI The radiologist found another spot. Again, Waylon went through his second surgery to remove the tumor, He again had to go through more radiation/chemotherapy. Waylon was again doing so well after treatments. walking talking laughing. He is now 5 yrs old and again fighting for his life. On January 2nd, 2025, Waylon had another MRI and another tumor was found. this time it was located in front of the brainstem. it measured 20x11x15mm. This one would be a bit more difficult to get to and had some risks of paralysis and other issues. On January 15th, 2025, 8:49am He underwent his third surgery.
The last 20 minutes of surgery he lost nerve activity on his right side. he has left facial paralysis and was unable to move his left leg and arm. January 20,2025, his biopsy come back again as Cancer. But Waylon cannot have radiation or chemo this time as he has exceeded the treatment dosage. As of today February 12,2025, Waylon is making progress. he can slightly move his left side and can now eat on his own without a feeding tube. Waylon will be coming home today, and we will love him and cherish every moment we have left with him. His parents have a lot of traveling everyday back and forth to Grand Rapids Mi 60 miles one way for many appointments during the next few months. Any donations will be greatly appreciated to help with travel expenses, and household bills as His father is only employed part time right now. and will be traveling with Waylon for hi appointments.
Thank you for all your support and understanding.
