Wayde's Hero Arm fund

Tax deductible

Hello, my name is Wayde.

I was born with a limb difference to my left arm. The doctors think this was caused because my mam had swine flu in early pregnancy.

I have always tried my best at everything and to not let my differences affect me.
When I was younger, people used to tease me about my arm and make nasty comments, but I have been lucky to have brothers and sisters to look out for me.

I am 11 now and have just started high school, so it is a new group of kids with more questions and nasty comments. Although I have tried not to let it bother me, it has knocked my confidence, and I am now trying to hide my arm from people.

I love sports, my favourite being football. I play in goal, and I am really good as long as they shoot to the right haha. I also love tennis and building lego.

My mam has always told me that I can do anything if I put my mind to it and give it my all, and I do try my best, but some things are impossible, like tying my shoes.

I would love to be able to have a Hero Arm; they look so cool and would make a massive difference to my life. The first thing I would try and learn is tying my own shoelaces. It will take practice, but I will try.

Not only would the Hero Arm benefit me with the ability to do things I struggle with but it would also give me the confidence not to hide my arm away and take part in activities my difference has held me back from.

My mam says the Hero Arm is one of the cheapest bionic arms available, but it is still really expensive.

So as well as my mam, stepdad and siblings doing events and fundraisers to try to raise the money, we have set up this crowdfunding page because although I appreciate the effort my family are going to make, my stepdad is doing a marathon at 41 years old. I think the only time I have seen him run is for the ice cream man, so we might need a bit of extra help, haha.

I am not expecting miracles, but even if you could donate £1, I would be so grateful, and it could mean one less mile my stepdad would have to run.

I'm raising money through The Open Bionics Foundation for my Hero Arm. Every donation to this page will help me. Thank you in advance for your contribution. It means so much to me.
