Help Them See with a Cataract Surgery

Donation protected
Hi, My name is  Hansa Teker, I’m a senior at North Babylon High school. My friend Zeynep Girdap who is also a senior at Smithtown High School East and I are raising funds to cure people that need cataract surgery. Our goal is to collect $6300 of donations and cure 63 people in Uganda. 1 surgery costs 100$. Surgery will be done at the Nile International Hospital Jinja/Uganda. Once the surgery is completed you will receive a certificate in your name, in memorial of someone, or the name of a loved one as a gift.  Join us and let's change one person’s life at a time. So we can change millions’ lives. Cataract is a progressive disease of the eye that causes blurry vision and eventually complete blindness.

Due to the lack of access to proper healthcare, almost 800,000 people suffer from cataracts in Uganda, Africa and are forced to live in isolated darkness. Cataract remains the leading cause of blindness. It is estimated that cataract is responsible for 51% of world blindness, which represents about 20 million people.Giving someone back their sight is the ultimate gift. Many of these people have not seen the faces of their children and struggle daily to lead a productive life. Let's all come together and change the life of a mom, child, dad or even a whole community.

*MAKE SURE to send your email address and your full name you want to appear on the certificate to [email redacted]  . Your certificates will be sent to your email address after the surgery.
