And just like that, a year has passed! Thanks to the support we have had, The Art of Hope is growing from strength-to-strength. So far, we have been able to fulfil every nomination for an arts-based care package that we have received and we have been joined by over 25 artists and creatives to ensure that the pieces we send are as many, varied and interesting as the nominations we receive.

At this point we are thinking about both sustainability and growth. We want to raise a small buffer to cover predictable expenses (like postage!) to reduce some of the day-to-day worries of the project. We also want to move forwards towards the ambition of having our own webpage. We have a number of fundraising streams, including a small Etsy store that I run - mainly selling medication pot coasters - to fund the Art of Hope. We are trying our best but we still aren't quite there.

The cost of one fancy coffee could cover the delivery cost of one small parcel. Could you give up just once coffee this week to help bring a moment of hope and happiness to someone having a difficult time?

If not, could you give us a follow on socials and spread the word? We are @_the_art_of_hope_ on Instagram and The Art of Hope on Facebook.

The short version is that the Art of Hope is a social project spreading hope and moments of happiness through surprise gifts of art to those in need of boost.

The longer story is that it is fair to say the last few years haven’t been easy for me; from ill health and multiple periods of hospitalisation to losing my mum, three close friends to suicide and my much-loved cat, all within the space of just over a year.

I was challenged to make something positive from something painful. I’ve been writing and sending penpal letters and positive post to those who are isolated or in need for a few years now. This project aims to ‘up the game’ by spreading hope and moments of happiness through surprise gifts of art.

Anyone can nominate someone in the UK to receive a gift. The more information you are able to provide, the more personalised the art can be. To nominate, follow the link below: http://linktr.ee/theartofhopeproject

Funds raised will primarily be used for postage and packaging costs for sending the art work. In my wildest dreams we’d also raise money towards building and maintaining our own website and potentially be able to cover some supplies.
