Waxahachie Police K9 Program

"Cross" was one of the Waxahachie Police Department's K9 police dogs.   On Monday, March 25, he was taken to the veterinarian because of a lump on his side.   He was obviously uncomfortable when laying down and the vet determined that Cross had an advanced stage of cancer.    The difficult decision was made to end Cross's suffering.

Cross was one of those unique police dogs that could turn his "work" mode on and off.  One moment he could be at a school letting kids pet him and tug on him and the next moment put on his game face and track a criminal.   He was cross trained in both narcotics detection and apprehension.  He was an "officer", a partner, a family member and a true asset to the department and the community.

Cross was well known in the region for his skill sets.  In 2016,  Cross won first place in the USPCA Region 20 police K9 competition and he has many arrests and drug seizures to his credit.  Unfortunately, dogs of this quality are expensive.  A well trained dog like Cross can cost $15,000.

If you would like to donate to the police department to help us acquire another police K9, your donation would be greatly appreciated.  We currently have one other K9 and would like to acquire a second one to replace Cross as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support!
