When Category 5 Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, it left much of Montego Bay and the surrounding communities in devastation. Families lost their homes, small business owners lost their livelihoods and countless people were left struggling to meet their most basic needs.

In response to this unimaginable loss, Tricia Sheckles founded Waves of Hope Jamaica, a grassroots relief foundation dedicated to helping her fellow Jamaicans rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. The foundation’s mission begins with providing immediate essentials like food, clean water, and toiletries, to those most affected, with the goal of feeding 6,000 people a day through local volunteer efforts.

Beyond immediate relief, Waves of Hope Jamaica is committed to the long-term recovery of the community by supporting home reconstruction and helping families regain stability. Every contribution helps restore not just structures, but the spirit and strength of Jamaica’s resilient people.
