So this is my first time ever doing something like this but boy, do I have a passion to tell this story and help this amazing family who not only is going through a very rough journey but more importantly, showing everyone around them what it looks like to truly use pain and hardship for Gods glory.
So let's get started: Let's meet the Waston family: Mom(Barbie), Dad (Steve) and daughter (Summer). Mom, has worked at the Cleveland PD office for 16 years. Dad is a planner for a local company. Young Summer is 10 years old and was adopted as a baby by the Watsons. She is on a local competitive gymnastics team and is so full love and energy.
In late November, 2022, mom was having some health issues and developed jaundice. She was admitted to the hospital and soon found out there was a mass on her pancreas. On December 20th she was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma on her pancreas.
That's when this journey began.
Mom has undergone 6 procedures since she became ill, most of which were done to place a stint in her bile duct, been hospitalized 4 times, started one form of chemo that her body couldn't handle, and is now on a different form of chemo. She has been referred to a doctor at Vanderbilt to evaluate her case. Throughout this whole process, Barbie has been very open and raw when it comes to how this journey has affected her but what is astonishing to me is how she has talked about Gods protection, love and healing that she believes in. She is demonstrating what going all in with Jesus looks like.
She has not been able to work since her diagnosis and was required to wait 90 days before long term disability would be kick in and it will only cover 60% of her income.
I have watched while this family has adjusted to living on 1 income and have helped in any way that I could but they need this communities help now.
I am sponsoring this go fund me with the Watsons full support. With the drastic reduction in family income, and the expense of the doctors and hospital visits, along with the up coming expense of travel to Vanderbilt has put a huge strain on this family.
I ask you to give what you can, what God leads you to, and above all else, please be praying for the Watson Family.
