Watham Family

Hi, my name is Dala Schwenk and I’m fundraising for the Watham Family. Walter was diagnosed with colon cancer in July of 2021. He had surgery soon after to remove part of his colon. The doctors are optimistic that the cancer was caught early enough to be completely treatable.

In August, Walter began his chemotherapy treatments. He began having severe chest pains and was rushed to the hospital. Come to find out, the chemotherapy caused his arteries to spasm which led to a heart attack. We are thankful he made a quick and full recovery. However, it has been a journey for the doctors and the Watham family to find the right treatment plan to avoid more heart spasms.

In just 3 months, Walter has undergone several chemotherapy treatments and now they think they may have found the one that works. While they are so grateful to have found the right treatment, it has been a long process of tests, procedures, medications, etc. to ensure the safety of Walter while undergoing chemotherapy. Walter has been a loyal friend and blessing to so many people from work to OU Football games to softball teams and everything in between. We wanted to do something to bless him and his family as they continue their journey over the next few months.
