Water Within Reach

If you didn’t already know, I am from Morocco. I came to the U.S. 19 years ago at the age of 10. Every couple of years my family and I go back to visit. Whenever I go back, I always get this feeling like I should be doing more to help out. 

After my Dad’s latest trip to Morocco, he told us about his travels to his late fathers village. We have cousins there that we have never gotten the chance to meet.  He started to tell us about these young children’s daily routine. They wake up every morning to herd their sheep. They walk miles to get water for their family since they don’t have a well in their village. They do all of this before they start their school day. Can you even imagine that?! I was shocked to learn that they have to travel so far just to have access to clean water. That is what inspired me to start this GoFundMe page. I want to raise money so that I can help build a well for this village. This will allow the children to spend more time being children and working on their education. Every child deserves that. My family and I would like to name the well after my grandparents - Mohammed & Khadija. They would be so proud of us for what we are doing! 

I have begun speaking to builders and I plan on meeting with them this summer when I attend my sisters wedding in Morocco.
