We are the class of 4A in Lusk Community College.
Throughout the year we will be working towards the goal of reducing single use plastics in our school by introducing new water filling stations in our school.
Right now, a lot of students still use plastic water bottles every day and that adds up to a huge amount of waste.
We realised that part of the problem is that we don’t have enough proper water filling stations in our school. We tested the water from these fountains and found that they are above the healthy range, meaning we need change!
So our goal is to install new water filling stations to make it easier for everyone to refill reusable bottles, stay hydrated, AND help the environment.
Each new station costs around €2,950 so we’re running fundraising events in our school and reaching out to local businesses and people to support our climate action.
We hope we can make Lusk Community College a greener, healthier place to learn.
