Water - our dogs and cats desperately need it.
Donation protected
Kyrenia Animal Rescue is situated in the Besparmak Mountains in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, and is home to over 250 dogs and cats.
There is no mains water supply available to the Rescue Centre and therefore all water has to be delivered by tanker. Every delivery of 12 tonnes is costing 2,000 Turkish lira (approx. £40.00 sterling) and during this time of year (with the very high temperatures) the water consumption is enormous, using between 7–10 tonnes of water daily. Last month the cost of water amounted to 40,000 Turkish lira (around £800 sterling) The dogs and cats not only need this for drinking and bathing to keep cool, but also for the daily washing down and disinfecting of their living areas. This ensures a clean and healthy environment is maintained at all times.
We also need large water bowls as the dogs sit in them to keep cool - Gerry in the photo shows just how he chills out in the heat of the summer months.
Financial help is very much needed as our support base continues to shrink with ex-pats returning to the UK. Inflation is rising and the local community is being hit hard with rising prices.
We are appealing for donations to help pay for water for the rescue centre so that we can supply this basic life requirement to our dogs and cats.
