Water for amputee, POW widow, Stefania
Doação protegida
My dear friend, Stefania Dwojewski, is in dire need. She has been without water for over three weeks now, and after having sunk her last dime into a person to troubleshoot the problem with her well, they have determined that her well has gone dry, producing nothing but mud! No drinking water, no way to wash dishes, no toilet water, not sanitary! And Stefania, an amputee on a limited social security income only, has few means to tackle this problem. She contacted me in tears yesterday with a dire plea for help. This is your chance to make a personal difference in the life of someone greatly in need.
You may remember Stefania from my many posts over the years. She was a professional caregiver, having watched over my mom until her dying day, until she contracted necrotizing fasciitis, FLESH EATING DISEASE, just months after my mother passed away. She spent months in an induced coma, struggling for her life, then another year in a rehab facility far away from home, only to finally return home to where her husband, Donald, a decorated Vietnam Veteran, a PRISONER OF WAR, was battling terminal cancer. Donald has passed, leaving Stefania to wage her own battles which to so many of us, myself included, seem simply insurmountable, but I have faith that God can and will move mountains for her, but we need your help.
Stefania not only lost a leg and a great deal of her abdominal area to this disease, but in the days following her husband's passing, she was abused by a caregiver, left alone for days without her cell phone, no food, no water and had no way to get help. She went from 170 pounds to 90 pounds, and yet she still survives. She continues to live in her trailer home, sleeping in the center of her living room in a hospital bed. This scenario has played out for over six years now.
So, the immediate need is this: we need to get the available city water to her home. A meter and tap need to be set on an accelerated schedule. At best, this can be accomplished in the next 5 days if we can come up with the initial $1,850.00 to do this. If we can raise this today, I will personally go to the water company and make arrangements to get this process started. From there, we need to get a trencher or some way to get the pipe set about three feet deep from the meter to the home. Of course, the pipe and fittings themselves will need to be purchased. A plumber needs to be hired to do the work. If there is any left over money, this will be used for purchase of food, sanitary items, water and whatever may be needed to bless Stefania and get her back on track.
I have never set up a GoFundMe page, but I know this lady is in great need and it is the least I can do. You can count on me to get all of the raised funds to this cause and to Stefania. This photo was taken on one of the first occasions that I was able to see Stefania and Donald following her release from the hospital and rehab facility. I didn't think things could get any worse for Stefania then, but they have. But then God, and you, his angels, showed up in a mighty way! We can get this water to Stefania. Her well may be dry, but God's is not. Please help and share. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.
