Hello, my name is Megan. My sister and her family are in a pickle.
Going to make this as short and to the point as I possibly can.
First of all, all the prayers they can get would be greatly appreciated.
April 28, 2021 my sister closed on the house she thought she’d be in for years to come.
As time has passed, more and more things have come to light as far as what needed work, like most older houses do.
Unfortunately, due to all of the excessive rain our lovely Indiana weather has thrown our way, it put the foundation to the test. Which failed miserably. The west side of the houses structural foundation collapsed in, filling the basement with water.
Upon further investigation, the house was found to have mold and bacteria growth inside of the walls from the toilet leaking.
At this point the fire chief has deemed the house uninhabitable. Red Cross can’t help due to it not being a “natural disaster”, insurance won’t help because it wasn’t covered in the policy (there are two totally different policies that even then, wouldn’t have covered it but would have been ‘considered’), and the cost of the repairs exceeded the value of the house by far.
At this point, all options have been exhausted and I’m setting this up because I know my sister refuses to ask for help. The struggle of watching her go through this is hard.
She’s got no back up plan as this was completely unexpected. The cost of living in a hotel right now is taking most of her income. She’s having to buy fast food or delivery for dinners on top of all of the normal bills, money is becoming nonexistent at this point.
I’m asking for help so she doesn’t lose everything she’s worked so hard for as this house was one of the biggest goals she had worked so hard for, for so long.
If you can help financially, anything is appreciated. Gift cards, gas cards, prepped meals would all be helpful as well.
Most of all, prayers. Prayers my sister and her family are able to get back to a “normal” and all this stress becomes a thing of the past. Our family has endured enough and this is just a bump in the road but one I know we need more help than we can handle ourselves.
