Hi! My name is Louis Korom and I’m raising money to complete my first short film. The film is called Postscript: A Midwest Story. I’m wrapping up the editing on the film right now and am reaching out to my community to help me finish the project.

Last summer, I decided that I wanted to make a film. The film has two purposes: to grow the filmmaking skills that I’d acquired over the course of the pandemic and to tell part of a story that I've been wanting to tell. That story is called Midwest, and this is one part of that tale.

I assembled a team in the winter of 2021 to help me make this short film. We planned for a January shoot in 2022, but a family emergency put the project on hold. I was able to assemble a new cast and we shot over the weekend of May 14-15, 2022. For the past few weeks I’ve been editing the film. I’m on my second cut and am putting together the final touches. I’m hoping that you’ll take me across the finish line.

This film has been a labor of love from the very start. Every actor and crew member donated time, effort, and energy to make this production a reality. Some even traveled from far away just to make this happen. We borrowed equipment, were given coffee, used free meeting space, and I made way too many scones to carry all of this out. Now, we’re coming to you to carry this project across the goal line.

Why are you fundraising?

We are raising funds for two purposes. First, we are raising funds to bring a piece of licensed music to the film. The second is that we are trying to submit this film to 10 film festivals in Texas and in the Midwest. The money we’re looking for will cover these two costs. Additional funds will go toward costs associated with showing the film to live audiences.

Film Synopsis

Chalk it up to the Cubs. Chicago is a place for lovable losers. Postscript is a story about two of them, Max and Elise, who find themselves reunited after years apart in the most awkward of situations— during a blind date. How do two cool kids with years of uncommunicated relational tension manage to get along? They find that much to their chagrin, that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
