Corey Wasko was diagnosed with glioblastoma in November 2012 with recurrences in 2016 and 2017. He has beat all the odds and is currently a 10 1/2 year Glioblastoma survivor, but long term cancer survival doesn’t come without complications. He has had multiple set backs over the years, including infections and cysts, requiring many procedures, hospitalizations, and time off of work for not only himself but for his wife Jill. Corey hasn’t been able to work full time since 2020 and is currently on disability. He has hearing loss, word finding difficulties, and tremors. He most recently sustained a brain bleed and has been admitted to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for the second time in less than a month. He cannot be left alone because the pressure in his brain from the bleed is causing him to get weak and dizzy resulting in multiple falls. He will need surgery within the next week. His wife has been out of work, which has been mostly unpaid since this has happened at the end of May. They were fortunate enough to be able to take a vacation with their son in between all the craziness but since returning home Corey has continued to decline. Jill has been staying in a hotel while Corey is in the hospital. Once he’s home she will still need to stay home with him for an unknown amount of time. Unfortunately all of the hospitalizations, travel expenses, time off of work is really taking a financial and emotional toll on the Wasko family.
