Wasim & Shorouq’s Family Needs You to Survive In Gaza

My name is Suzan, and I’m reaching out to help my nephew Wasim and his family, who are enduring unimaginable suffering in Gaza. Please take a moment to read his wife Shorouq’s heartfelt plea:

Hello,
My name is Shorouq, and I am from beloved Gaza. I am a mother of two children—Abdul Kareem (4 years old) and Hiyam (3 years old). My husband, Wasim, and I have created this fundraiser to help our family survive during this unimaginable crisis.

Our Story
On October 7, the devastating war on Gaza began. In the first week, we were forced to flee our home, escaping from northern Gaza to the south under the terrifying sounds of airstrikes and F-16 warplanes. Explosions shook the ground, and flames engulfed our surroundings. Then, we received phone calls and recorded warnings urging us to evacuate south toward Wadi Gaza. We found shelter in a UNRWA displacement center, where we stayed for two weeks.

When the situation seemed calmer, we returned to our home—only to receive another warning that our neighborhood was at risk of bombing. We quickly evacuated again, staying with relatives for three days. But as threats of an Israeli ground invasion grew, we had no choice but to flee once more, this time to another UNRWA shelter in Khan Younis.

Struggling to Survive
Life in the shelter was unbearable. There was no food, no clean drinking water, and no proper sanitation. The overcrowding was overwhelming, and we lacked even the most basic necessities. The little food we had consisted mostly of canned goods—far from nutritious.

Winter made everything worse. There weren’t enough blankets, and the freezing cold made survival even harder. Our children fell ill repeatedly, and every day was a struggle to find clean water and enough food.

After months of suffering, the Israeli army bombed the shelter we were in. Once again, we were forced to flee—this time to Al-Zawayda in central Gaza. Here, we lived in a makeshift tent, made from worn-out fabric and torn plastic sheets. It offered no protection from the scorching heat of summer or the freezing cold of winter. Our children continued to get sick because of the harsh conditions, and we had no source of income to provide for their needs.

Returning to Nothing
After the ceasefire, we finally made our way back to Gaza City—only to find total devastation. With no income and no means to rebuild, survival has become nearly impossible. The city is in ruins, and basic necessities remain scarce.

We Need Your Help
Since being displaced, we have been left with nothing. Life in Gaza has completely collapsed—there is no food, no clean water, no healthcare, no schools, and no businesses. Prices for basic necessities like vegetables, fruits, and even cleaning supplies have skyrocketed beyond reach.

Every day is a fight for survival.

Your support—no matter how small—will make a difference. Any amount you give will help us afford food, clean water, and essential supplies to keep our children alive.

Please stand with us during this desperate time. Your kindness could be the reason my family in Gaza makes it through another day.
