Wasik's Covid Relief (Long-Haulers)
Donation protected
Hello,
This is a call for help. Even a little would help with groceries, utility and household bills, and potential future medical costs. But please only give if you can afford to.
To those who are not aware, my wife contracted Covid in April of last year(2020). There were multiple 911 calls, and multiple drives down to the ER. To say it was extremely stressful and nerve wracking would be a major understatement. I was getting less than 2 hours of sleep many nights as I was constantly getting up to make sure she was still breathing. I was also taking care of our 3yo son, as well as my wife. The good news is that my wife pulled through, our family did not lose her to the virus.
Unfortunately she was not recovering as fast as expected, and was one of the unlucky few to be diagnosed with "Covid long-haulers". Those who have long-haulers continue to experience symptoms even after the virus has left the body. It's been over a year and a half and she still continues to have trouble functioning normally.
I quit my job to stay home and care for her once it became apparent that she needed somebody 24/7 as a caretaker. We are blessed that she has improved and recovered enough that she does not need around the clock care, but she is still at a point where I am unable to return to work of any kind. Though we had expected recovery to take a while, we did not expect to be going into 2022 having still not recovered. We now expect to be in the same situation at least for another year, if not longer. Potentially when our son starts pre-school, and if my wife is well enough, I will be able to find some remote work from home employment.
My unemployment ran out a few months ago, and I have been unsuccessful in extending any benefits. We have been living off of our savings, and some help from my parents. But even with being frugal our savings account is dwindling.
Thank you to all who have read this far. Thank you for your time, thoughts, prayers, or monetary assistance. I hope everybody stays happy and healthy.
