On August 28th while our group of adventure motorcyclists were riding Section 2 of the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route one of our riders took a spill near Cleman Mountain and suffered a leg injury requiring emergency assistance. The Nile-Cliffdell Fire and Rescue team responded to our 911 emergency and based on our location and the terrain dispatched the Life Flight air ambulance services to evacuate our injured rider to a local trauma hospital. Upon arriving at the scene the fire and rescue crew was immediate in taking action and providing care and support. Ron, the crew supervisor, went a step further in offering to ride our partner's bike down to the station for safe keeping until we were able to make transportation arrangements. A long and dusty ride for sure but Ron was up to the task and did us a huge favor.
As are many of rural emergency responders, Nile-Cliffdell Fire and Rescues is a 100% volunteer organization and always in need of funding to maintain equipment and expand their capabilities. The adventure motorcycling community and other outdoor enthusiasts place heavy demand on these devoted public servants and often ask them to come to our aid in remote locations and challenging situations - we owe it them to recognize their essential role in our activities and help any way we can.
Thanks in advance for your contribution.
