Wasatch Victims Benefit Fund
On April 21, 2021 while working at the Wasatch Railcar Repair Facility, Daniel Conway and Dallas Mitchell were killed when the contents of the railcar tanker they were working on suddenly exploded. The tragedy has shocked the small community of Shoshoni.
Daniel Conway, just shy of his 19th birthday was a recent graduate of Shoshoni High School. He was known throughout the community as a hard working young man who was helping to support his family in Shoshoni. He had expressed the desire to attend CWC and continue his tradecraft in maintenance. His loss leaves a family without a son, brother and caretaker of his family.
Dallas Mitchell, 28 of Riverton was with Daniel inside of the railcar tanker during the incident. He had been known by his fellow employees as a driven employee, but more as a dedicated father to five children with his wife. His loss and Daniels have left an unfillable void in the lives of their families.
As a small close knit community, the Town of Shoshoni through the Chief of Police and Town Clerk/Treasurer sought to help provide assistance to the families impact by the tragedy. Recognizing that the sudden loss of income due to this tragedy does not stop the need for financial support and the extreme financial hardship impacting both families during a time of extreme emotional pain and sorrow, The Riverton Depot Foundation, a non profit 501(c)3, has partnered with the Wasatch Victims Benefit Fund to accept donations. The fund will provide financial support during this time of grief for the families affected; removing the stress of how to continue surviving during this time of hardship.
