(Daughter of Gilles and Ginette Pele, sister to Jayden & Kyle, granddaughter, niece, cousin & friend to many, many others).

On August 17th, one day after taking Erin to see her family doctor for a checkup, she was airlifted to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.  On August 18th, the devastating news came: Erin was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Erin spent the next two weeks at the Stollery receiving numerous blood and platelet transfusions.  This brave fourteen year-old has already had lumbar punctures, a bone marrow aspiration and another surgery to insert a central line (IVAD) in order to receive chemotherapy treatments.

The family knows that they are on a minimum 2 ½ year journey. Currently, they make weekly commutes to Edmonton (a 5 hour drive) for those treatments.  We, as family, friends and strangers, are coming together to provide support and collect donations to help cover travel and medical expenses throughout this long journey.

Imagine being 14, feeling healthy and perfectly normal one day and then being told the next day that you have cancer, will lose your hair, cannot play the sports you love and will likely miss many days of school in the upcoming year.  This young girl’s life has been turned upside down.  Erin's passion is volleyball and her jersey number is #4.   She also regularly watches Ninja Warrior on tv and knows she is fighting the battle of a lifetime. She is a Ninja and we are the many warriors supporting her through this journey.

Join us in praying, donating and supporting the Pele family.  Each of us can be a Warrior4Erin!

(When I asked Gilles and Ginette what my goal should be, they had no idea.  They did say, though, that whatever is not used for Erin will be given to another family of a child with cancer or a charity associated with cancer.  Let's do all we can to make the financial burden less for them.)
