At just two years old, Weylin's life has turned upside down. Like any normal little guy, he loved to run, swing, and play "dino chase." He was just days away from a family vacation when he spiked a temperature and began to experience body aches. Knowing they were going out of town, his mom and dad took him for a quick check-up at the doctor. They ran some blood work but assumed it would just be viral. However, any parents nightmare came true when the doctor called and told Rachel and Caleb he needed to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion. Upon arrival to the hospital, the medical team informed them that little Weylin has Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. The next day the diagnosis was confirmed with a spinal tap and a bone marrow biopsy. In the days to follow, Weylin endured a surgical treatment to place a port in his chest and began chemo immediately. He has needed chemo treatments every week and will continue to have those weekly for many months ahead. Since the initial diagnosis, Weylin has needed to undergo anesthesia for several spinal taps and bone marrow biopsies. He was recently readmitted to the hospital for elevated temperatures. He stayed four days until his blood work showed that his immune system had improved enough to go home. This will be a long road for Weylin's family, but they have remained strong in their faith and are leaning minute to minute on their God.
Many have asked if their is anything they can do for Weylin during this time and our first and most important need is prayer. Pray for strength for Weylin to kick this cancer and to fight with all the strength in his little body. Please pray also for Rachel and Caleb as they navigate through this season in their little boy's life. Lastly, pray for the doctors on Weylin's case to discern the best course of action as his therapy continues.
If you are still wanting to do more, please donate to help Weylin kick this cancer! In just a short time, this disease has already placed a young family with a great financial burden. The costs of chemotherapy, surgery, frequent testing, hospital admissions, and home medications, is substantial and the bills have only just begin to trickle in through the mail. Rachel and Caleb have both needed to take time off of work to be at appointments and hospital stays with Weylin, only adding to the financial and general day-to-day stress of the situation. We are only a month into his two and a half year therapy, any donation you are able to give will be so appreciated.
This is a long road and we know there are great uncertainties that lie ahead. But we also know that we serve a big God who hears our prayers. So many of you have already been praying with us and for us. We have been encouraged by how far reaching our prayer warriors have come. Thank you for praying with us for our little guy. We know through God all things are possible and with His strength we will see healing and strength for Weylin.
