Warrior Wilson's Healing Journey

Support for Warrior Wilson’s Healing Journey

Morgan Pedersen and Kyle Paul's fertility journey began in 2020 when we learnt that a natural pregnancy might be unlikely for us. After several unsuccessful rounds of IUI, we began IVF in January 2024. Through that process, we were blessed with four viable embryos, and on May 8, 2024, we did our first transfer. By the end of the month, we received the joyful news that we were pregnant!

Throughout the pregnancy, routine checkups showed no major concerns, and we felt hopeful. But on January 9, 2025, everything changed. Our little one, Wilson, stopped moving in utero, prompting us to visit the hospital for monitoring. We were relieved to hear his heartbeat but worried when there was still no movement. Emergency c-section was performed, and at 7:32 pm, we welcomed our handsome baby boy. Sadly, Wilson was born with asphyxia, meaning his brain and vital organs didn’t receive enough oxygen.

The medical team worked hard to stabilize him, and soon we were informed that Wilson would need to be transferred to BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Vancouver for treatment due to a congenital heart defect. Further tests revealed:

Heart: Tetralogy of Fallot
Brain: Damage to basal ganglia
Lungs: Needing ventilation until he’s strong enough to breathe on his own
Kidneys: Acute kidney injury

Despite the challenges, Wilson is showing remarkable progress. He’s healing well and has already come so far. However, he will remain in the NICU for a significant period, with specialists closely monitoring his condition. There are still many unknowns with the genetic results but surgery will be necessary for the heart defect within the next few months.

Mom and Dad are staying near Wilson in Vancouver, about four hours away from their home in Kamloops, and away from their beloved dog, Lenny. With the ongoing hospital stay, travel costs, and the emotional toll, it has been difficult to manage everything financially.

We’re asking for your support to help alleviate some of the financial burden as they stay close to Wilson during his recovery. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly to supporting their time away from home and ensuring they can focus on their little warrior’s care without additional stress.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can provide. Together, we are keeping the hope alive for our precious boy, Wilson.
