Warrior Walk for Mental Health Awareness
The stats say 1 in 5 people are struggling with
their mental health at any given time, and this is not taking a pandemic into account.
At its worst, crisis can lead to suicidal thoughts. We need to do our very best to support people
experiencing these very real feelings and that is what we, at the Jordon Myles Foundation, try to do.
This year we cannot gather in large groups for
our annual Warrior Walk fundraiser. Our walk
is a time to remember those we’ve lost to suicide and to decrease mental health stigma within our community. 100% of the funds we raise at our walk goes towards supporting those struggling, primarily in the form of our “You Matter” comfort bags. Each bag contains a blanket, socks, hygiene & personal care items like toothpaste, lip balm, toothbrushes etc.., as well as a drink, a snack, and some type of entertainment like a word search or puzzle book. We add personal notes & words of encouragement for support.
Every person admitted to our community hospital in mental health crisis receives one of these bags. We know they are appreciated a great deal. Some folks arrive with nothing and this bag provides so much comfort.
We want to continue providing support &
comfort with these bags. So we humbly ask that if you believe in the benefit of the Jordon Myles Foundation’s “You Matter” bags, and are able, please consider a small contribution. Every bit helps.
(Please note: The 5th Warr;or Walk trail will continue without the crowd. We invite you to
spend some time at Keppoch Mountain, where
the trail will be set up along the Game Changer all-accessible trail, from Sept 26-Oct 4.
Much love.
