Warrington Half Marathon - 22.09.24 - for Lymphoma Action UK

Back in April 2024, me and our family were shocked to discover that my dad (Michael - pictured above) was diagnosed with High Grade Diffuse Large B Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

This is an extremely rare type of cancer so it was difficult to know what we were dealing with in terms of the lack of UK data available as well as a lengthy diagnosis process and intense treatment.

He will be going in for Car-T Blood Transfusion treatment at the beginning of September and will be one of the first 100 people taking part in this treatment in the UK which we hope will be the first step in him being cancer free.

This was one of those things that you never expect to happen to you until it does, and I can’t thank the NHS enough for the care they have given to my dad as well as his wife and my stepmum Samantha who has been pivotal in ensuring this treatment can occur.

It was difficult to chose a worthy cause to raise money for but I will be raising money for Lymphoma Action UK to give as big a contribution as I can to aid the research they do which helps give people like my dad and their families a fighting chance.

any donation however small is welcomed and thank you for taking the time to read about my dads story.
