This is Beth and Matt Warren, a mother and a son that went on a trip of a lifetime to Italy this past week. On the third day of their trip they were served a glass of wine that unbeknownst to anyone had poison in it. Somehow, lye, bleach or some sort of chemical got into their glasses. After one sip, their throats were burned and they became violently ill. They’ve been in the hospital ever since. Both have suffered severe burns to their esophagi and remain on pain medication and intravenous lines to receive nutrients. Beth’s daughter and Matt’s sister, Elizabeth, is currently stateside receiving updates through the hotel proprietor who is being very supportive of the family. Elizabeth is in dire need to get to her family to help them in their return back home. While family, insurance and the US Embassy is currently working with the Warren’s as much as possible, there is still a significant financial burden they are faced with. We feel that the last thing they need to be concerned with is the cost associated with this situation and their main focus should be getting healthy and returning home. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Elizabeth has stressed that they need their privacy right now. We will post a daily update until they have returned home.
