At 11:05 pm, June 4th, 2022, Warren Bruce MacQueen peacefully passed surrounded by his wife, son, two daughters, and his local grandchildren. Warren was a loving husband, involved parent, proud Paga (grandfather), quiet artesian (oils, charcoals, but mostly colored pencils), and sports statistic devotee of his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies as well as Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

Born July 5th, 1946, in Pinewald, New Jersey, to Robert Lester MacQueen and Helen Virginia Walker; Warren is the youngest of two brothers (Robert, 13 months his elder). As a child, Warren was a typical boy of his time. He played with his neighborhood friends, built forts, learned how to use a bow and arrow, and had rock throwing contests. By his teens, he developed his talents as a singer and artist. In fact, Warren was invited to try-out for the Philadelphia Boys Choir (he regretted not trying out) and won a local window painting contest his senior year of high school (unknowing his future wife, a freshman at the time, won third place in the same contest). After graduating from Toms River High School, Warren enrolled at Northern Illinois University (NIU). His studies were short-lived and upon leaving college, he enlisted in the Air Force.

Warren would spend a little more than three years on the peak of Sơn Trà Mountain, overlooking Danang Harbor and China Beach as a signal intelligence analyst. Sergeant MacQueen was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1972, earning several commendations; the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal (with one Bronze Service Star), and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After serving our country, Warren went back to college to earn his Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems and worked part-time at Point Pleasant Hospital. Here he would meet his future wife, Janie Jacobus. Eight short months later they were married and have spent the past 48 years and 10 months building a life which took they and their family across country living in a variety of homes in New Jersey, South Carolina, California, Texas, and Kansas. Without fail, Janie and Warren would quickly build a community of friends who would become family and work diligently to maintain these connections along the way. When practical, the MacQueen clan would return home to their New Jersey roots to share their kids' adventures, family aspirations, and most importantly bring love and laughter.

On November 1, 2017, Warren suffered a triple aortic aneurism and was hospitalized for nearly a week. His devoted wife Janie, who also happened to be an LPN, quickly moved into action and since has served as his around-the-clock primary care giver. The past five years have taken a toll. Despite a team of quality medical professionals supporting Janie's continuous care, Warren's health slowly and steadily declined. Warren's best attempts at getting back to work were unsuccessful thrusting Janie back into the workforce after a fifteen-year hiatus. As Warren's physical and mental fitness fell, the medical and household bills snowballed.

Since Warren's passing his immediate family, with the invaluable support of his niece and her kids from Minnesota, have rallied to Janie's side to sort decades of medical and household bills, neglected house maintenance, and offer countless hugs, share fond memories, and shed countless tears. There are others, far and wide who have also provided support, condolences, and love. Janie will be the first to tell you she is ever so grateful for the calls, texts, and outreach of compassion and sympathies since Warren's passing.

For Janie to begin the next chapter in her life story, she needs help. This GoFundMe account will serve as a direct way to help Janie move forward. Numerous family members, friends, acquaintances, and colleagues have reached out asking, "what can I/we do to help?". On behalf of our mother and father, their kids Merrill, Mandi, and Scotte humbly ask for a financial expression of your support. The funds raised will be used to offset those medical and household expenses not covered by The VA's survivor pension, reduced social security, or limited retirement payments.

For those inquiring into future services to celebrate Warren's life and legacy, there will be no immediate funeral service. Some of Warren's fondest individual and family memories were those along the Jersey shore and we hope to provide an update in the near future on developing plans to hold an informal celebration of his life in Ocean City, New Jersey during the next off-season.
