Warmth and Safety for Trina: Your Help Needed

Donation protected
Family and Friends, I want to share a story of this wonderful soul that I had the pleasure of meeting, in one of the most unfortunate and saddest situations. Her name is Trina. She is a 50 year old woman, who is experiencing homelessness right now in what is becoming one of the coldest times of the year. I’ve had the opportunity to sit and talk to her, and hear her story. I come by and try to help her with food and any essential that I can provide. I’ve tried to comprehend why she is not in a shelter and unable to obtain help, and use of resources. She is currently sleeping in the drive thru of a closed down Rite Aide because it’s the only area that has a street light, where she feels a little bit safer from being assaulted, and somewhat shielded from the the cold winds. She has a small comforter to lay on top of the concrete and she sleeps inside of a sleeping bag that was given to her. All her belongings are in a small tote bag that she hides in the bushes while she walks down to the shelter to try to get a meal. I was in complete disbelief!! Begin unfamiliar with the system myself, I was completely unaware of how urgent the need for resources are in this county for the homeless community. I began to make calls everywhere and they have refused to help her. They simply state the they have no space available. They do not provide additional information and tell us that she will have to continue to call and hopefully she will get lucky and secure a bed at some point. Most locations take months to get into. I have called everywhere from the state offices, to nonprofit locations, to no avail. Temperatures are dropping and this woman is freezing outside and no one is helping. This woman worked her entire life, and unfortunately was injured and had to rehabilitate for a year. She was let out of the facility with no where to go. She currently has a broken ankle and walks two blocks just to shower, and eat one meal a day. She has nothing or no one. Yet she is still fighting for her life. She is genuinely a kind and selfless human being. She is fighting to survive everyday, and yet I sat and watched her today, sharing from the little bit of food which she doesn’t even have, to feed a little stray cat that is her only companion. She has reminded me that there is still kindness in humanity, and we should pay that forward. She has never asked for anything for herself, and shows gratitude for the smallest things. I am hoping that if you find it your heart you can help her get through this winter without having to worry about where she will have to lay her head at night. She is being harassed by people and was recently assaulted. People walking by throw trash at her, and steal what little she does have. There is a monthly stay hotel that will cost $500 a month with everything included. I am looking to raise enough money to pay for even a month. Ideally I would like to raise enough money to get her through the winter months. However, any little bit would help, and would be a start in the right direction to give this woman some relief from everything that she has endured. I pray that Trina touches your heart today, and even if you can’t provide any monetary support please make a prayer for her, share this post with your friends and family, reach out to me and you’re welcome to stop by if you’re in the area to bring her meal and some words or encouragement. Thank you all for your time and help, God bless
