I don’t usually ask for help, but today I’m putting pride aside because family is everything.
I’m reaching out on behalf of my Aunt Tracy and Uncle Tom, who are facing an incredibly hard winter and could truly use some support right now.
My Uncle Tom has early dementia, which has completely changed his ability to work. He can only take on very small construction jobs when his health allows, and with winter here, those opportunities are few and far between. My Aunt Tracy desperately wants to help, but she is currently unable to work as she continues her battle with cancer. Between appointments, treatments, and the toll it takes on her body, working just isn’t an option right now.
They do receive Social Security, but as so many know, it barely scratches the surface of monthly bills. To make things even harder, their HEAP assistance was cut in half this year. With the cost of everything rising, especially heating, they are struggling to keep up.
They rely on propane for heat, and that alone is overwhelming. They also have a wood burner that helps, but it requires small pieces of wood — and they currently have none. Something as simple as firewood could make a huge difference in keeping them warm through the cold months.
This isn’t a story of poor choices or lack of effort. It’s a story of good people who have been dealt a really unfair hand. They’ve always been the type to help others, never expecting to be the ones needing help themselves.
If you’re able to help in any way — whether it’s contributing toward propane, helping with bills, donating firewood, or even sharing this post — it would mean more than I can put into words. Every little bit truly helps and adds up faster than you’d think.
Most of all, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. This season has been heavy, and kindness goes a long way.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, and supporting my family during such a difficult time. ❤️
