My name is Chaima Ait El Mekki, and I am the founder of Cultural Caravans, a Morocco-based social enterprise that designs immersive cultural and educational experiences. Through my work, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with the Tizi N’Oucheg Association, a community organization in a small Amazigh village in the High Atlas Mountains near Marrakech.
Every year, I bring groups of travelers to Tizi N’Oucheg to volunteer, exchange culture, and learn about Amazigh traditions. Over time, I’ve developed a close relationship with the association and the families there — especially the children, whose warmth and curiosity always stay with our visitors.
Why This Campaign
Winters in the High Atlas can be extremely harsh, with snow and freezing temperatures that make walking to school very difficult. This fundraiser aims to provide every student in Tizi N’Oucheg — from preschool to high school — with a pair of sturdy, high-quality winter shoes or boots before the cold season begins.
My local team will work directly with Decathlon.ma to purchase the shoes, sort them by size, and ensure transparent distribution to the students.
Cultural Caravans will cover all transportation and logistical costs to deliver the shoes to the village — 100% of your donation will go toward purchasing the footwear.
How You Can Help
Your contribution, no matter the size, will help keep a child warm and safe on their way to school this winter. Together, we can make sure no student in Tizi N’Oucheg faces the cold without proper shoes.
